Product Safety & Compliance
At CasaOmni, product safety is not a checkbox — it is a baseline requirement for everything we sell. Every product in our collection is evaluated against applicable safety standards before it is offered to customers. This page outlines our approach to product safety, the certifications and standards we require, and how to contact us with any safety-related concerns.
Our Safety Commitment
We source products from established manufacturers who operate to recognized international safety and quality standards. Before any product is added to the CasaOmni collection, we require documentation confirming compliance with applicable regulations for the US market, including electrical safety, material safety, and structural integrity standards.
We take reports of safety concerns seriously and act swiftly when issues are identified.
Electrical & Lighting Safety
All CasaOmni lighting products are required to meet US and/or internationally recognized electrical safety standards. We require the following from our lighting suppliers:
- UL Listing or ETL Listing — The primary US electrical safety certifications, issued by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and Intertek (ETL) respectively. Listed products have been independently tested for electrical safety.
- CE Marking — Required for products sourced from or designed for European markets. Indicates conformity with EU health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- RoHS Compliance — Restriction of Hazardous Substances. Confirms that electrical components do not contain restricted levels of lead, mercury, cadmium, or other hazardous materials.
- IP Rating (where applicable) — Ingress Protection rating for fixtures used in wet or damp locations (bathrooms, outdoor-adjacent spaces). We specify the appropriate IP rating for each application.
Specific certification details for individual lighting products are available on request. Contact us at CasaOmni@hotmail.com.
Furniture Safety
All CasaOmni furniture products are evaluated for structural safety and material compliance:
- ASTM International Standards — We reference applicable ASTM standards for furniture strength, durability, and stability, including anti-tip requirements for case goods (dressers, shelving units, cabinets).
- CPSC Compliance — All furniture sold in the US must comply with Consumer Product Safety Commission regulations. We work only with suppliers who can confirm CPSC compliance for their product categories.
- California Proposition 65 (Prop 65) — Where applicable, products are assessed for chemicals listed under California’s Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act. Required warnings are included on product listings and packaging where mandated.
- CARB Compliance — California Air Resources Board Phase 2 formaldehyde emission standards apply to composite wood products (MDF, plywood, particleboard). We require CARB Phase 2 compliance from all suppliers using engineered wood components.
- Anti-Tip Safety — All freestanding case goods include anti-tip hardware and installation instructions in compliance with current ASTM F2057 and applicable CPSC guidance.
Material Safety
We apply material safety standards to all product categories:
- Lead-free finishes — All paints, lacquers, and surface coatings used on CasaOmni products are free from lead and other restricted heavy metals
- Food-safe ceramics — Ceramic products intended for food contact (tableware, serving pieces) are tested to confirm lead and cadmium leaching limits comply with FDA standards
- Textile safety — Upholstery and textile products comply with OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 or equivalent, confirming freedom from harmful substances
- Natural stone disclosure — Natural stone products (travertine, marble) are disclosed as natural materials with inherent variation; sealant products used on stone are non-toxic and food-safe where applicable
EU Compliance
For products designed or sourced to meet European market requirements, we reference the following directives and standards:
- Low Voltage Directive (LVD) 2014/35/EU — For electrical lighting equipment
- Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (EMC) 2014/30/EU — For products with electronic components
- EN 12520 / EN 12521 — European strength and durability standards for domestic seating and tables
- REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 — Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals; ensures chemical safety in materials
